01
Mexico
I was in Mexico was for around 2 weeks. As a Romanian, it was a bit tricky to pass the boarder (we could talk more about it). My tour guide was my friend Jorge (he is from Mexico) who tailored this experience for me and we both had an amazing time
03
Cuba
I went to Cuba on a solo trip right after going to Mexico and it was a really safe place for a solo female traveler.
I knew about their history before going there and it was quite a surprise: poverty mixed with music and dance.
Cuba is changing daily.
05
Spain
I lived in Spain for 6 months in the Basque Country as a student and I visited the area (Pamplona, Bilbao, San Sebastián, etc), Madrid and Barcelona during those 6 months. I visited a few times Spain after: Malaga (on a hen do trip), Sevilla, Zaragoza (on a girls trip), Barcelona (a few times).
I've also been to the French Basque Country: San Juan de Luz, Bayonne.
07
UK and London
As I mentioned, I have been living in the UK since 2017. London was one the things which made me want to move the UK, the London vibe :). I could recommend attractions, one day trips, English Heritage experiences, Lakes District, Peak District, Cornwall, Wales, N Ireland, Oxford, Cotswolds, just to name a few :)
I drive around the UK many times.
09
Romania
As I mentioned, I'm Romanian and I have been around my country many times: Transylvania, Bucovina, Maramures, Cluj-Napoca (where the night life is amazing), Transfagarasan, Transalpine, Brasov, The Danube Delta, The Black Sea, hiking in the mountains, Bucharest, Sibiu (the beautiful Christmas market), Iasi.
I can tell you about our food/ drinks, night life and culture/ history.
Romania is safe compared to other countries.
11
Italy
lI have been to Rome (including the Vatican), Calabria (Tropea), Bari, Lecce, Gallipoli, Santa Maria di Leucca, Turin, Milan, Tuscany (Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti, Pisa), Cinque Terre.
Everybody knows about food, coffee and sweets.
13
Turkey
I have been to Istanbul: Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Galata Tower.
I had a cruise on the Bosphorus and got to Besiktas, Taksim and to Ankara: Anitkabir, Kizilay Square.
Everybody knows Turkey for the sea side, but maybe not many know about their life, about their culture.
15
Singapore, Malaysia
I went to Singapore initially for work and I thought I was going to live there for a while and I got in touch with locals who recommended attractions including Melaka, Malaysia.
Singapore is such a vibrant place, good for business, good food and really safe for everybody at any time of the day/ night.
There are some controversial things though: like the chewing gum, like drugs, like the durian.
17
Belgium
I have been to Belgium on a solo trip starting from Ghent - a beautiful gothic town, Brugge - such a romantic place (highly recommended for couples) and Bruxelles - the European capital - with nice food (fries, waffles) and lovely beer.
19
Lithuania, Poland
Been to these to places in one go but both of them could be visited by themselves. Been from Warsaw - a beautiful rebuilt city turned into a modern one, to Kaunas - a small town in Lithuania with a beautiful castle.
Warsaw is good place for history lovers since it was rebuilt after the WWII, the Warsaw Uprising Museum (Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego) was really touching.
21
Germany
Been to Germany from Munich to Nurnberg (Bavaria) passing through Bamberg - a beautiful medieval town where the Three Musketeers was filmed, Herzogenaurach, Erlangen.
Been to Berlin as well which was a bit different than Bavaria.
The remaining of the Berlin Wall was touching, part of it is covered in graffiti. For those who are more sensitive, it's surrounded by a strange energy.
23
Portugal
Been to Portugal with my friends. We visited Lisbon (Praca do Comercio, Baixa, Jeronimos, Belem, etc) Porto, Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira, etc). We also listened to some Fado.
Lisbon is situated on hills and walking there will keep you fit.
25
Croatia
Landed in Zagreb and travelled all the way to Split with a stop in Plitvice Lakes Natural Park. I was truly impressed by the beauty of this park: turquoise water and mountains all around. It can take the whole day to see it all.
In Split we went for a cruise hop on hop off on Hvar, Blue Cave - again I was impressed by the blue water).
A place not to miss is Trogir.
27
Armenia
Been to Yerevan, Ghiumri and Nagorno-Karabakh. It was an emotional experience to see such old Orthodox monasteries.
It was really emotional to experience the open war with Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh. Luckily, people weren't shooting at us but I could see the war marks in a school which had almost been devastated.
02
Switzerland
Been to Switzerland in February 2020 which was a bit unusual because the Pandemic started closing borders, still I managed to enjoy Basel and the Frank Gehry's building near Basel. I also managed to try some food and interact a bit with locals. I had a really nice fruit tart :D
04
New York and Philadelphia
I went to NY and Philly on a girls trip for around 2 weeks. I knew about the US before getting there and I was still a bit surprised when I got there.
It was interesting to see the first skyscrapers, understand the history of the these cities and it was really emotional to be at the 9/11 Memorial. We also went to the pub from where the Independence War started.
06
Scotland
I was already living in the UK, when I first went to Scotland on a trip with friends (we went from Edinburgh up to North and we saw castles, up to Inverness, Island of Sky and down to the Lakes District) and some other times with work near Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen.
08
Wild Coast of Atlantic
I went on a trip to Donegal and wow.. I was really impressed by the views where the ocean meets the cliffs.. such beautiful nature.
10
World War II trials
This a special tour related to the WWII. This involves locations where important events happened. I wouldn't like to make people sad, I would like just to bring attention to history: Krakow (including Labour camps), sites in Malta, sites in the UK (Duxford Museum, Churchill War Room Museum, etc).
12
Dubai, Abu Dhabi
I have been to Dubai: Downtown (Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall), Dubai Creek, Al Seef, Al Fahidi, Dubai Miracle Garden, Dubai Marina and Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Ferrari World, Royal Palace, Emirates Heritage Village. I could experience a lot of new and some old things.
I was impressed by the quality of life, of food, of technology. Everybody knows it's next level.
It's nice to dive into their culture.
14
Stockholm, Sweden
I have been to Gamla Stan, Vasa Museum, Stockholm Palace and enjoyed the fika.
It was different and I wanted to move there even if it was so cold in March.
16
Austria
Been to Austria in the South in Velden am Wörthersee - a beautiful mountain resort for hiking, on the Worthersee lake where you can do boat trips, with a casino and a really good place for car lovers since there are car gatherings during the year, Klagenfurt - Viktring - a pretty little town and Vienna, world renowned for classical music, history, the Danube river, schnitzel and so on.
Vienna a good place for history and culture lovers.
18
Czech Republic
One of my friends used to live near Prague so I went to see him. We had some walks around Prague including the castle, the main squares and so. We also went clubbing which was really fun :)
20
Malta
Been to Malta on a couple of occasions: work and leisure. I must confess the first one was a hen do. Malta is a fantastic destination for clubbing - Paceville and for boat trips around the islands (Gozo, Camino). If you are lucky enough to speak with locals, you will find really nice people.
I spent one week on Gozo.
22
France
Been a couple of times to France: Valle de Loire - the castles valley (Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau, Chambord - if you're curious about the French Royalty and Caterina de Medici passing through Amboise, Blois, etc), France Basque Country (passing through Saint Jean de la Lumiere, Bayonne) and Paris.
Everybody knows the nice French wine, cuisine, perfumes and fashion.
24
Republic of Moldova
Been to Chisinau and Milesti winery. Highly recommended for its wines and people.
Once part of Romania, we still have many similarities like food and way of living.
26
Canada
Been to the beautiful Niagara Falls and Toronto.
I was impressed by the blend of French culture in Toronto and by nature all in all.
